Behavioral Safety Evaluation
Accident/Incident Analytical and Root Cause Analysis Techniques
Safety and Health Audits and Training Programs
Analyzing Accident Data to Define Effective Solutions

Pass/Fail Criterion:
Student passes upon the following:

Demonstrate the ability to apply accident prevention techniques to the work environment.
Conduct an accident analysis and determine causes and interventions.
Develop accident assessment instruments and utilize them in conducting accident investigations.
Recognize both safety and health hazards in a variety of scenarios.
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of a job safety analysis and safe operating procedures.
Be able to design, implement, and apply preventive measures for specific safety and health scenarios.
Describe the principles for developing and implementing accident prevention programs.

Student fails upon the following:

Demonstrating lack of knowledge on any of the above items.
Performs any act in an unsafe manner.
Does not score the minimum 70% on written examination.

Description: The Accident Prevention and Investigation course begins with an overview of rewards for accident prevention and the negative connotation that accompanies a workplace accident or illness. Utilizing proven techniques, students are lead through a series of challenging scenarios to demonstrate identification, elimination and prevention of workplace hazards before an accident can happen. Knowledge of the subject matter is evaluated through practical skills and written examination.
